“Run with the Best” at Bix 7!
Since 1975, runners have traveled from all over the world to the Quad Cities for a one of a kind race event. The Bix 7 brings the most elite talent to downtown Davenport for one weekend, every July. That weekend is officially upon us, once again. It’s time for some Bix 7 fun!
The Running Wild Sports and Fitness Expo will be in full-swing on Thursday July 26 from 5-9 p.m. and Friday July 29 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. The expo is a two-day event featuring vendors from the health, wellness and fitness industry including running apparel and gear, nutritional products and injury prevention. There is no admission cost for the expo and it also serves as the official race headquarters for the Bix 7 for all registered racers to pick up their race packets.
The 2018 Brady Street Sprints will happen on Thursday July 26 at 7 p.m. The race is an uphill quarter-mile sprint. There will be nine races this evening including two men’s and women’s open races (29 and under and 39 and under for each), two Masters’ races (40 and over, men’s and women’s), High School relays (boys’ and girls’) and the Bix 7 Sponsors Race (Bix sponsors only).
The Arconic’s Jr Bix will take place on Friday July 27 at 6 p.m. Distances vary by age. Children 5 and under will run 70 yards, ages 6-7 will run 1/2 mile and ages 8-12 will run 7/10 mile. Last year’s Jr Bix 7 was more successful than ever. There will be a limit of 3,500 children this year. You must sign up early to ensure a spot in this year’s race.
The Quad-City Times Bix (7 miles) and Swiss Valley Farms QuickBix (2 miles) will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday July 29. The cost of participating is $48. Online registration is open until July 27. The last chance to register is in person at the River Center packet pick-up sessions on Thursday July 26 and Friday July 27, before the race.

While the Bix 7 was started by Bettendorf native John Hudetz, as a commemoration to Davenport native and jazz musician Bix Beiderbecke, the popularity and success of the event has grown into something bigger than ever expected. It is the largest non-marathon race in the Midwest! For updates and more information, make sure to check out their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/QCTBix7/.
Whether you are lacing up those running shoes or ready to cheer on a friend, don’t miss out on the many Bix 7 activities this year!
