It’s never a bad idea to brush up on safety. Bring the whole family out to Blain’s Farm & Fleet this weekend to do just that!

Saturday Jun 16 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. you are invited to EMT/Child Safety Day at Blain’s Farm & Fleet (3300 N Highway 61 Muscatine).

Come enjoy ambulances, fire trucks, Muscatine Search and Rescue vehicles and maybe even a Medforce helicopter siting!

The Muscatine Amateur Radio Club will be onsite for all of your emergency communication questions. They are a non-profit group of volunteer Amateur Radio Operators that do all of the Emergency Communications for the Red Cross, Salvation Army and run the SKYWARN weather spotting program for the Natl Weather Service in Muscatine Co.

C. Scott Richardson, the state appointed Emergency Coordinator for the Muscatine County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), started the club about a year ago is already up to 22 members! They man the 26’ Mobile EOC – Emergency Operations Center. It was purchased by the state about 11 years ago with a grant from Homeland Security. They are currently fundraising to get the Mobile EOC updated and useful to the county, again. It will eventually be the backup for the MUSCOM Mobile Communications Truck.

Check out the Muscatine ARES online for more information and upcoming events at http://www.muscatinearc.org/ares.

Don’t miss out on this very important and fun-filled day!
